I feel like I am being judged! Look how nice Lisa was -- no judgment. She don't judge.
I totally want to see it because I loved Harold & Kumar go to White Castle.
(Also, it just looks really good)
Not judging! I'll have to check this book out.
The story of the Namesake gets me too (diasporic product of an arranged Bengali marriage, born on the East Coast :-))--but I feel like Interpreter of Maladies trumps it in plot and style, so I definitely recommend that as well. I did see the movie when it came out and was pleasantly surprised and moved... it manages to capture the spirit of the book and the actors (particularly Irfan Khan and Tabu) really do an excellent job. I hope you manage to catch it sometime soon!
I listened to the audiobook a few years back - loved it!
Im actually reading the book now. I come from an immigrant family as well but from a completely different part of the world. Even so, parts of the immigrant story are very universal. I didnt realize that until I got into the book.
this is my favorite book . EVER!
It's interesting... the book is clearly already one of my favorites (I have always loved Flannery O'Connor, and this feels a little bit like her telling my story) but it perhaps hits a little too close to home for me to love the book as much as I should. Does that make sense?
Anil, I somehow missed this post until now. I LOVED this book. Her writing is so assured, smooth, and beautiful. And moving. I read this a couple years ago and the story has stayed with me. Can't believe I haven't seen the movie yet. I really need to.
Hi is totally true one identifies with the story
I will be waiting for your review I hope you can share it with us

I just finished the book 'The Namesake' and I was wondering if anyone had seen the movie, and how it compares to the book? I was pretty impressed with the book.
