If The Wire were in SF...
I will say that one of the things I will miss about living in San Francisco is having Thomas Carcetti as mayor.
It's Magical Mayor Newsom! I will never cease to be amazed at how many people are willing to take on problems that could have been avoided by simply not sleeping with people one shouldn't sleep with. Perhaps we should provide diagrams to explain these things to politicos.

I'm completely disappointed in him. I was thinking about it this morning and at the very least it indicates that he has shockingly bad judgement, a weak will, or a lack of scruples. None of those are traits you want in a leader.
Why should we expect a person in public office to be any different?
Really, you think you can find leaders who completely set aside their human foibles completely and will never ever blow it? I find the concept unlikely and the historical evidence unsupportive.
Now, this is a particularly sucky situation for all concerned, but I for one would rather have a politician who makes some sexual errors and owns up to it than one who makes financial or life-endangering ones and won't.
Just to be perfectly clear I'd rather have Bush turn out to have slept with FIVE of his friends' wives than have lied to send us into war and massive debt. Frankly, I'd consider him a lot better human being than I do now with all those lives on his (apparently inactive) conscience.
